Fertility and Cystic Fibrosis: Alexandrena Parker's story

Fertility and Cystic Fibrosis: Alexandrena Parker's story

Managing Reproductive Health alongside a chronic condition?

Falling pregnant and living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Alex @alexandrenaparker is a Victorian-based mother to daughter Ruby, and she shared her story with us.

"I was so incredibly fortunate to fall pregnant very easily. Much easier than I ever thought it would be due to my cystic fibrosis. When I was pregnant it was the first time in my life that I actually felt ‘healthy’ – like the extra hormones were allowing my body to work!

"I stopped working at 20 weeks and devoted my entire life to looking after myself – swimming every day, resting, eating really well, going for extra chest/lung physio, medications.

"I was so very lucky to have a very good pregnancy but I wish I knew so so so so much more about postpartum. I do feel I probably suffered from some undiagnosed postnatal depression and I found the whole newborn stage extremely difficult."

Reproductive health is a wild ride.
